Valley View Students Post 28% Increase in Advanced Placement Scholars
The 2017-18 high school students in Valley View School District 365-U increased the number of Advanced Placement Scholars by 28% according to the results of this spring’s AP testing. A total of 190 Valley View students earned designation as an AP Scholar by scoring 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. (AP Exams are graded on a scale from 0-5, with 5 being the highest possible score.)
In addition, 35 students earned designation as an AP Scholar with Distinction, which is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and a score of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Those 35 students represent an increase of 67% over the 21 students who received the same designation in 2016-17.
A total of 34 Valley View students earned the distinction as an AP Scholar with Honor, up from 28 students one year ago. Those are students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
Noteworthy among the Romeoville HS AP Scholars is Class of 2018 graduate Ashley Pitt, who took seven AP exams during her senior year earning five scores of 5. Ashley will be attending Illinois State University starting this fall and will be studying nursing.
Noteworthy among the Bolingbrook HS AP Scholars is Class of 2018 graduate Abigail Bozarth who earned recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction. Abigail earned a score of 5 on four of the seven AP tests that she took. Abigail will be attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville beginning this fall and will study chemical engineering.
